Useful links for visiting Alaska

Alaska is the northernmost and the largest state in the United States, consisting of the mainland and almost three thousand islands. The beauty of this land is breathtaking. Along the seaside, there are rugged glaciers, stunning fjords, and bays. Besides unique nature, Alaska is also rich in cultural and historical sights.

The symbols of the state are the forget-me-not, the moose, the Sitka spruce, and the willow ptarmigan. With Canada's Kluane and Tatshenshini-Alsek National Parks, Wrangell-St. Elias and Glacier Bay National Parks in Alaska were inscribed together as a single joint US–Canadian World Heritage Site in 1994.

Alaska is the 49th state of the United States, admitted to the Union in 1959. Before this, it was under the rule of Russia for some time. Its capital is Juneau, the largest city – Anchorage, nicknamed The City of Lights and Flowers. Other major cities: Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Sitka.
