Useful Links for Visiting Turkey

Turkey lies on two continents: almost the entire country stretches in Asia, and about 3% of its territory is in Europe. It has four seas, more than 400 beaches, historic Istanbul, Yalova thermal springs, cave monasteries of Byzantine Cappadocia, incredible cuisine, and great shopping. Therefore Turkey is so popular with tourists.

Its symbols are the grey wolf, the redwing, the tulip, the Turkey oak. The country has even 18 World Heritage Sites. Its capital is Ankara, the largest city – Istanbul, nicknamed The City On Seven Hills. Other major cities: Izmir, Bursa, Antalya.

The majority of the country's population is Muslim. However, in Turkey, religion is legally separated from the state, and everyone has the right to freedom of belief.

"Turkey is a European country, an Asian country, a Middle Eastern country, Balkan country, Caucasian country, neighbor to Africa, Black Sea country, Caspian Sea, all these." – Ahmet Davutoğlu, a Turkish academic and politician.
