American Samoa Travel Resources

Tropical island

Five volcanic islands and two coral atolls make up American Samoa, a tropical paradise. The archipelago is full of natural beauty and offers authentic Polynesian culture. Taking a vacation in American Samoa is the perfect way to relax.

Consisting of the eastern part of the Samoan archipelago in the south-central Pacific Ocean, American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States. It lies approximately 100 kilometers / 62 miles east of Samoa, an island country with the same ethnicity and culture, and is midway between Hawaii and New Zealand.

Almost all American Samoas are Christians. Aside from Christianity, introduced in the nineteenth century, the culture has remained relatively unchanged for the past 3,000 years.

Samoan is the native language, which is related to Hawaiian and other Polynesian languages. The majority of the population speaks English or at least understands it.

The national currency of American Samoa is the US dollar. American culture, including food, music, and television shows, has influenced the people of American Samoa. Also, neither visas nor green cards are required to work or reside in the United States for them.
